Most microfiber marketing is noise. Ignore the brand name, the color, the "premium" badge. Look for three things:
If a product page won't tell you these three numbers, that's information.
You don't need one perfect towel — you need different towels for different stages. A 600 GSM plush is wasted on tire dressing. A 300 GSM utility towel will ruin a freshly polished panel.
A working grade-out:
"Korean microfiber" — used to mean something in 2010. Now it's a marketing label. Korean factories make great and terrible microfiber, same as anywhere.
"Detailer-grade" — meaningless. There's no certification body.
"Streak-free" — every microfiber is streak-free if you're using it correctly. If it's streaking, you're using it too dry or it's saturated.
Specific color = specific quality — color is just dye. Plenty of shops color-code by use (yellow for interior, blue for paint, etc.) which is smart, but the color itself isn't a quality signal.
A premium 600 GSM towel washed with regular detergent and fabric softener becomes a marring towel in three washes. The fabric softener coats the fibers and reduces absorbency; regular detergent residue causes streaking.
Use a dedicated microfiber detergent (or just clean unscented liquid). Skip fabric softener entirely. Wash hot, dry low (or hang). Replace towels when they start feeling rough on your skin.
Microfiber is one of the highest-leverage categories to buy in volume. Per-towel cost drops dramatically at 12-pack, 24-pack, and case quantities — and unlike chemistry, microfiber doesn't expire on the shelf. If you're running a shop or mobile setup, set a recurring restock at the case level and you'll never run out mid-job.
